The research clarifies the place of V. Vynnychenko among the writers who developed the idea of "a new character", in particular a woman, both in Ukrainian and foreign literatures. Two tendencies of modernization of feminine personality creation have been described: the change of artistic and depictive methods and ideological and semantic emphasis. The Diary and the epistolary work of V. Vynnychenko have been analyzed in order to find out the author's attitude to a woman. The specificity and the forms of modernization of folk feminine personality made by V. Vynnychenko have been found out. The complex analysis of feminine personalities in the prose and the plays of V. Vynnychenko from 1902 through 1923 has been made taking into account the results of the philosophy of existentialism, psychoanalysis and social concepts of the beginning of 20th century for the first time, the present typology of feminine personalities has been added and extended, the types of feminine revolutionaries have been analyzed indetails through the prism of dialectics of the social and the natural, the new interpretation of the personality of the so-called "fluffy little females", in particular role versions (a female - vamp and a mother) have been considered, two models of feminine behavior that use sublimation of mother's instincts have been outlined, the process of the author's creation of an artistic model of an ideal woman has been grasped.
