Essay

This dissertation addresses the issue of identifying the medical criteria that can be used to provide the most effective medical supervision during young women athletes' training in gymnastic floor exercises (n=45), trampoline jumping (n=45) or badminton (n=40). The training retarded biological development, especially in those engaged in gymnastic floor exercises. The athletes had a delayed onset of menarche than the control group and disturbances in their menstrual cycle. The athletes had indirect signs of hypo-estrogenesis. Training raised the level of the dynamic resistance of their vestibular analyzer. This alteration of the athletes' training in gymnastic floor exercises (68,9%), trampoline jumping (62,2%) or badminton (62,5%) heart rhythm suggests that the parasympathetic nervous system had adapted to economize cardiac activity. However, symptoms of the body's poor adaptation to the physical demands were evident. Following correction of these vegetative imbalances with musical compositions individually selected with regard to the athlete's temperament and level of anxiety, optimization of the cardiac regulatory rhythm and normalization of the anxiety level was observed.
