Essay

The work is devoted to the organization of studying the methods and ways of doing algebraic sums in a secondary school. The history of origin and development of methods and ways of doing sums are researched, their role and place in the course of algebra in a secondary school is established. A group of basic methods directly connected with the contents of the theoretical course of algebra is distinguished, the order of their studying in the course of algebra, algebra and the beginning of the analysis in a secondary school is recommended. Methodical recommendations for these methods which had experimental approbation were developed. During the experiment it was established that active and conscious use of these methods in practice is impossible without studying algorithm of a method or a rule- reference point (the heuristic scheme) and its operational structure.
