The dissertation presents the results of the historical-scientific analysis of the beginning of meadow culture development in Ukraine in the second part of the 19th and 20th century and formation of it as a science and a branch of agriculture in the 20th century. The dissertation is the first complex investigation in the history of agricultural science where the development of meadow culture and forming of the research institutions are discovered. The importance of the scientific investigation and its influence on the forage production development and livestock breeding is discovered.
