Work gives system polyaspect holistic approach to the formation and development process of the history teaching methods in the second half of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century native school. External and internal factors tendencies, and peculiarities of that and methodical phenomenon development within chronological framework were characterized. Methodological points as to history teaching in authentical methodical literature methods got their further deeper generalization. Social and cultural, general pedagogical factors, preconditions of the under study phenomenon were specified. History teaching methods of the school history education with the first time (the second part of the 19th - 1916) periodization was developed. Three consecutive periods of their genesis were distinguished, 1) the end of the 50s of the 19th century - 1871; 2) 1872 - 1889; 3) 1890 - 1916. History teaching methods use peculiarities in different types of educational institutes were explained, native pedagogues contribution to the theory and practice of the subject teaching methods development of the period under study was discovered. Progressive elements of the period under study history teaching methods were distinguished, on the basis of those methodical recommendations for modern school history teachers were developed.
