Essay

Thesis is focused on the investigation of difference in the radiation stability of U-, Th- minerals. The systematization of U-, Th- minerals with respect to their structure has been made. It is established that the presence of interlayer molecules of water increases radiation stability of minerals. It is shown that overlap population of P-O bonds in xenotime YPO4 and in monazite LaPO4 are equal respectively to 0,26 |e| and 0,23 |e|, and overlap population of Si-O bonds in zircon ZrSiO4 is equal to 0,29 |e|. The mechanism of the recombination of structure defects which appear due to ?-decays has been proposed. It is shown, that the recovery of structure takes place mainly on the boundary between crystalline matrix and amorphous zone. 6156
