Sirant M. The refugee status in the European Union.

The thesis is devoted to the problem of the refugee status in the European Union. The historical pre-conditions of forming and developing the international-legal standards which concern the refugee status within the European system are presented. The legal mechanism of ensuring the norms determining the refugee legal status in the European Union is analysed. The determination of the concept "refugee" on the regional level gains the more important significance, that's why there is a necessity to broaden this concept on the universal level, too. It is also determined, that refugee rights must not differ from the rights of citizen of the third world, who live in the countries of the European Union legally. The Ukrainian legislation concerning refugees has been analysed, changes and additions to the valid legislation for improving and bringing them into comfort mity with international law norms are suggested.
