Savchenko S. Maize breeding on the economic traits, loading resistance and stem fragility

Subject of research - the manifestation of general and specific combining ability and other economic characters in inbred maize lines. The aim - the esteblishment of manifestation details of economic traits their correlation in inbred lines of home and foreign breeding and the development on their basis of new interline maize hibrids for the conditions of the Ukrainian Forest-Steppe. The methods are field, laboratory, measuring and weight, mathematical and statistical. The value and novelty of reseach - the character and genetic nature of heredity of lodging resistance and stem fragility are esteblished, the variability range and ecological stability level of these and other economic characters of inbred lines in single-cross maise hibrids are revealed; the new heavy-productive hibrids are developed. They are adapted to the growing conditions of the Ukrainian Forest-Steppe and exceed the recognized standards by 1.61 t/ha.
