Essay

The dissertation examines conceptual specific characteristics of the apologetic (manipulative) and critical (counter-manipulative) schools of American international relations studies with regard to assessing security strategies of George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr. administrations. The dissertation argues efficiency of combining praxeology best practices with integral political analysis and rethinking elaborations of international studies in the United States. Such approach is presented as a potentially specific political science method for researching international systems and global development as well as Western-type democracies. The dissertation systematizes basic specific features of conceptual approaches by the manipulative and counter-manipulative schools to foreign policies of the last three US administrations. The dissertation argues that the counter-manipulative school is made actual within the frameworks of political science discourse on the George Bush Sr. Doctrine and becomes dominating during the second presidency of George Bush Jr. The dissertation characterizes basic specific features of the counter-manipulative school during its evolution. The dissertation establishes that Ukraine has a chance to benefit the situation to implement a number of frozen international projects after the 2008 US presidential elections subject to circumspect steps. Respective summary and recommendations are presented.
