This Dissertation investigates theoretical and practical aspects of the impact of economic factors on the balance of payments of a country. The main approaches to the current account of the balance of payments including key factors for each approach are considered. The interdependence between current account balance and growth rate is analysed. The main macroeconomic identities of the balance of payments and their relation with the system of macroeconomic indicators are found out. The causes of the global imbalances and the ways to eliminate them are examined. Main economic factors, determining savings and investment and the current account balance are revealed. The impact of the demographic factor on the current account balance of a country and on the global imbalance is determined. The measures to facilitate negative impact of the worsening of the demographic situation on the balance of payments and growth rate are proposed.
