Essay

The dissertation researches the life and activity of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist D.G. Vilensky (1882-1960). The main stages of life, research and pedagogical activity of the outstanding scientist in the field of soil science are researched in it. The research deals with the periodization of the creative development of the scientist, the process of his formation as a scientist and the main methodological principles of his activity. The teaching activity and the main directions of the scientist’s researches are covered there. The importance of the scientist’s research work as a popularize of science is cleared up. The holistic picture of scientific interests and achievements of the scientist is made through the research of more than 195 of his publications.
