Specified is the subject-matter of the notions - pure music and pure art, with reference to the wide range of sources, original texts and artistic theories of the time. The idea of pure music is traced back to its roots in the early romanticism in connection with the idea of absolute music. Presented is the historical continuity of the idea of pure music at the background of absolute music up to the early XX century, covering a number of personalities and aesthetik theories. On the basis of the esthetic notions grown up in the creative activity of A. Schoenberg and W. Kandinsky, revealed is a conception of creative thinking of the both artists. The creative work-together by Schoenberg and Kandinsky is emphasized as an interart-phenomenon, contributing to the state of culture of the early - first half of the XX century.New terms are worked out to describe the peculiarities of the new language in the twelve tone compositions by Schoenberg in accordance with the principles of pure music and pure art.
