The dissertation focuses on the phenomenon of monomyth and its manifestations in the life of modern Ukrainian society. The concept of monomyth is elucidated in the paper. Provided is the rationale for its importance in the process of forming of ethnic community's mentality. The evidence exist that monomyth being a mold for universal mythological scenarios, enables people to create narratives related to the reality, and assign them with contents specific for needs of a certain ethnic community. The author elucidated the system of situational and essential factors affecting development of monomythological history, which facilitate differentiation of monomyth manifestations in the principal areas of the ethnic community' social life. The idea was suggested and proved that, with reference to modern Ukrainian political setting, exploration of universal meanings of monomyth allows to elicit the main traditional meanings underlying attitudes and expectations of constituency relating to the image of a politician, as well as give forecast regarding election campaigns. Substantiated was the use of authentic, for this ethnic community, texts in psychotherapeutic practice from the perspective of their providing support for personal growth, development and augmenting of human cultural interpretation resources within the individual's mentality.
