The object of the research is the development of agricultural science and education as a part of the Ukrainian history. The subject of the research is life of O.N. Sokolovsky, his scientific, organizational, pedagogical and public activity. Tasks of the researches were solved with the help of general scientific methods: (analysis, synthesis, classification) and special historical ones (problem a chronology, comparative- historical, periodization, logical-analytical, personification, descriptions, and interrogatory).
