The thesis deals with the study of the phenomenon of artistic culture - the Ukrainian popular floristic compositions. They have been formed for the space of thousand years. The traditional decoration with flowers is presented in maiden head dress, calendar and kindred ritual. The most typical forms of such wares - bun, garland and cross-shaped form. They are combined usually in a composition. The authors of the popular floristic compositions used artistic and semantic means peculiar to other kinds of Ukrainian peopleўs art. The floristic compositions fulfiled ritual, aesthetic, ethical and informative functions. The coded cosmological and mythological motives were discovered during study of semantic of floristic compositions; the branch - the theory and history of culture, art.
