The thesis deals with the problem of teaching students majoring in Philology to interpret English and Ukrainian texts in the area of human rights. The research provides substantiation and elaboration of the methodology of teaching students majoring in Philology to interpret English and Ukrainian texts in the area of human rights. The specific features of exercises for teaching interpretation have been suggested. The typology of mistakes in interpreting and the procedure of estimating interpretations have been widely developed. Ideas of component content of interpreter’s competence and approaches to the problem of exercises for teaching interpretation have been generalized. As the result of the research, the complex of exercises for teaching interpretation has been worked out; methodological recommendations on how to apply the suggested complex of exercises have been developed; the textbook on teaching interpretation has been created. The effectiveness of the suggested methodology was verified and confirmed during the experimental teaching and also it was implemented into three higher educational establishments of Ukraine.
