Essay

The object was the dynamics of visual system functional indexes and indexes of functional state of professional personal computer(PC) users, adolescences and young persons during the work with computer and computer games playing. The purpose was the estimation of users' visual system adaptation features during the work with computer monitors and the working out of arrangements for prophylaxis of visual tiredness development on its base. The methods were the visometry, proxymetry, convergencemetry, binoculometry, estimation of absolute accommodation, visocontarastmetry, pupilography, determination of critical frequency of flashing fusion, questionnaire design, statistical. Novelty - it was shown, that the functional system of adaptation by the myopic type forms or becomes stronger in young persons during the work with computer or computer games playing. The visual tiredness develops prematurely and the "asymmetric functional system of contrast sensitiveness" forms. The different types of computer gamesaffect the accommodation-convergence system of adolescents negatively. Results - the measures of visual tiredness and computer visual syndrome prophylaxis had been developed. The efficacy of these measures had been confirmed. It was determined, that the midriacyl use by professional PC users has lead to decrease of chronic visual tiredness symptoms, increase of organism's functional state indexes and quality of visual life. The methods of estimation of visually acting factors character and functional state of visual system had been offered. The results had been introduced in medical activity of Kharkiv city Clinical Hospital №14 named by Professor L. L. Girshman, Kharkiv City Clinical Multiple-discipline Hospital №25, Kharkiv City Hospital №28, Kharkiv Regional Students Hostital, Donetsk Center of Eye Therapy and in study process and research work of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics and Kharkiv National Medical University. The branch - medicine (normal physiology).
