Object of the research: bone tissue in almost healthy men. Aim of the research: to establish age-related changes in bone tissue and their mechanisms in men during physiological aging. Methods of the investigation and equipment: clinical, anthropometrical, laboratory, instrumental and statistical; dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry GENS Lunar, Elecsys 2010. Theoretical and practical results: obtained scientific results allowed to get an overview about age-associated changes in bone tissue and their mechanisms during physiological aging in men and to determine the normative indicators of bone mineral density, trabecular bone score and metabolism of bone tissue that improved diagnostic approaches of osteoporosis. It was developed the reference data for the lower limit of 10-year probability of major osteoporotic fractures and hip fractures for almost healthy men of different ages identified according to the Ukrainian model FRAX, which determine the contingent of men who will need further diagnostic of bone tissue condition. Novelty: in this research for the first time are presented age-associated changes of bone mineral density and trabecular bone score during physiological aging in men. During physiological aging, bone loss predominates at the level of the femoral neck and is equal to 10.0%. New data was obtained on age-related changes of the trabecular bone score in almost healthy men and there were no significant relationship with bone mineral density. For the first time in Ukraine, was detected the relationship between bone mineral density and body composition (lean and fat mass) in the almost healthy men. Also was demonstrated the relationship between trabecular bone score and fat mass parameters. New data was obtained on age-associated changes in bone turnover markers in almost healthy men and demonstrated their relationship with bone mineral density and trabecular bone score. For the first time in Ukraine were determined the limits of diagnostic and therapeutic intervention for the prevention of osteoporotic fractures on the basis of determining the 10-year probability of major osteoporotic fractures in men and has been established the necessity for dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scan in almost healthy men. The degree of implementation: the results of the research are implemented in the educational process and scientific work of the Therapy and Geriatrics Department of the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Traumatology and military field surgery Department of Donetsk National Medical University, Department of Family Medicine and outpatient care of the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, in the work of the Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics of Donetsk National Medical University, rheumatology department of the Lviv Regional Clinical Hospital, the department of age-related changes of the musculoskeletal system of the State Institution "D.F. Chebotarev Institute of Gerontology by the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine". Areas of application: medicine.
