Pysanko M. Forming English Sociocultural Competence of Future Philologists on the Basis of German as the First Foreign Language

The thesis focuses on the problem of forming English sociocultural competence of future philologists who study English as a second foreign language with German being the first one. The research provides theoretical substantiation and practical elaboration of the methodology of forming students’ English sociocultural competence by teaching them British lifestyle communicative behavioural patterns.The notion lifestyle communicative behavioural patterns has been specified, their components and types have been described and selected. British, German and Ukrainian cultures have been characterised and compared.The system of exercises to form English sociocultural competence by teaching students British lifestyle communicative behavioural patterns has been substantiated and developed. The model of teaching students British lifestyle communicative behavioural patterns within the subject “English as a Second Foreign Language” has been worked out. The effectiveness of suggested methodology has been varified andproved experimentally. Methodological guidelines have been developed.
