Ustimenko-Kosorich O. Mass music as an attribute of youth culture of the middle of the 20th century

The thesis is devoted to the definition of a place and a role of mass music in youth culture of the middle of the 20th century. Social and cultural changes have determined the qualities of art thinking, different from those of previons centuries, which have influenced and continue to influence the culture nowadays. As a result of thorough analysis it is proved that mass music is a complete musical and social phenomenon reflecting the art essence of its time - comprehension of the negative tendencies of our time and the contradictions of the state of mind of young people of the middle of the 20th century. The culmination stage of the development of mass music is the rock - the complecated, internally inconsistent phenomenon of culture. Formation of mass music was closely connected with social surroundings of the middle of the 20th century, when significant in sphere of social relatoins occured. For this reason main attention is concentrated on the definition of the role of mass music in cultural life ofyoung people of the middle of the 20th century. In the work youth thinking of 1950 - 1960s is considered. It had musical directions only and expressed in forms of primitive rhythmic festival-carnival actions. This fact actualizes the instrumental factor of musical culture, which caused further dynamic development of chamber - instrumental music both in entertaining and in serious directions.
