Salabay R. The mechanism of technological parameters influence on the properties of wood-straw particleboards.

The subject - the technological process of manufacturing wood-straw particleboards. The aim - to determine the mechanism of technological parameters influence upon the properties of wood-straw particleboards and develop, on this basis, the procedure for pressing particleboards using wheat straw as component part. The methods - experiment, measuring, comparing, viscosimetric, gravitational, refractometric, potentiometric, method of flat pressing, of drying-weighing, of perforating, method of statistical analysis. The innovative value: found here is the mechanism of influence of the raw material composition and glues as well as pressing conditions upon physical and mechanical properties of wood-straw particleboards which were made after the production methods commonly accepted in manufacturing wood particleboards. Obtained for the first time are the data of regression dependence of water absorption, thickness swelling, crossbreaking and transverse tensile strength of wood-straw particleboards on the following factors: the content of straw particles in different chip mixtures, the types of glue and the amount of the glue applied as well as the pressing conditions, which can be used in the technological calculations pertaining to the manufacture of wood-straw particleboards. The results: wood-straw particleboards have been made after the conventional methods for manufacturing wood particleboards. Determined are the size and fractional composition of the chipped straw particles. Revealed here was the impact of the crushing equipment on the properties of straw particles and, consequently, the properties of wood-straw particleboard. There has been investigated the influence of the chip mixture composition and the content of straw particles, the type and the amount of the glue used as well as pressing conditions, upon the properties of wood-straw particleboards. There has been proposed and patented the methods of manufacturing particleboards using straw. The degree of implementation: there have been elaborated recommendations which were used in producing a test batch of wood particleboards with the use of straw at the enterprise "Swisspan Ltd" manufacturing particleboards, the town of Kostopil.
