Essay

The study was carried out in rats by isolated colonic loop perfusing technique in vivo. It was shown the participation of gastrin in regulation of colonic water absorption and potassium secretion. Omeprazole-induced hypergastrinemia till 14 days didn't induce deep changes in colonic transport, prolongation of its action till 21-35 days induced the malfunction of colonic electrolytes' absorption. It was shown the changes of colonic transport sensitivity to the gastrin action during hypergastrinemia of different terms. It was proposed the nonslective CCK/gastrin antagonist proglumide and peroxisomal proliferator-activated receptor gamma ligand pioglitazone as protective agents against alterations induced by long-term hypergastrinemia.
