The thesis concerns structure-semiotic analysis of diachronic and synchronistic transformation of trickster's character in culture. Three basic functional characteristics of trickster mythologem were marked out by theoretical and methodological generalization of trickster's features: interpretative, travesty and reflective. In different sociocultural areas trickster represents through these features. It was determined that the diachronic transformation process of trickstery mythologem is the replacement of dominant characteristic which correspondes with the existential requirements of personality and culture type. The synchronic aspect of trickstery mythologem transformation was considered on the example of the postclassical culture where trickster's character acquires special vitality in the context of neomythology. It was fund out that the postmodern trickster doesn't return to the syncretic prototype and represents through all three basic functional characteristics that do not coincide in the frameworks of one narration, although it approachs to the archaic shaman, travesty and cultivated intentions of trickstery mythologem; the branch - сulturology, the theory and history of culture.
