The analysis of pedagogical, scientifically organizational, engineering and public activity of prominent domestic engineer of designer, scientist, in industries of structural mechanics and all-rail, professor of the Petersburg institute of ways engineers, his historical value and merits in to development of railway business at the end of ХІХ item and beginning of ХХ are given in dissertation. Systematizing a various spring material, an author represents the picture of development of railways science and technologic in the Russian empire and in Ukraine, comparing this process with foreign. It is well-proven that scientific and pedagogical work of scientist became the background of development of new ideas and projects in relation to subsequent technical researches.
