The thesis is devoted to research of the history of the Odesa theatre criticism in the context of urban entertainment culture in the second half of the 19th century till 1920's. The subject of the thesis is to show the influence of the Odesa theatre critique on development of drama theatre and audience's aesthetic dispositions. The dynamics of developing pre-soviet Odesa theatre critique plainly reveals 2 stages of professional formation: the second half of the 19th century - the first decade of the 20th century - origin and formation of review traditions; the end of the first decade - the second decade of the 20th century - the period of theatre critique professionalization. Creative heritage of some representatives of theatre critical guild is systematized and their role is defined by the establishment of Odesa cultural infrastructure. There are also observed some most popular genres of Odesa theatre journalism; the branch - art, the theory and history of culture
