Dissertation is devoted to the problem of forming the school heads' research skills in the system of postgraduate pedagogical education. The essence of the concept "school head's research activity" is defined; the content and structure of school head's research activity is determined. It is established that school head's research activity is purposeful kind of activity, the content of which lies in disclosing the effective techniques and conditions of solving the management, educational and other problems, which arise in the process of school functioning and development under present-day conditions. The structure of school heads' readiness to research activity is set as model basis. The special courses programs "Technology of Scientifically Pedagogical Research in School", "School Head's Research Activity: Theory and Practice" and methodological recommendations concerning the school heads' research skills forming in the system of postgraduate pedagogical education are developed and implemented.
