Krupenina L. Artistic association as a culture forming factor of the urban environment (оn the activity of Odessa Society of South-Russian painters on the boundary of the XIX-th - XX-th centuries).

For the first time in the theory and history of culture a complex research dealing with the South Russian painters Society (SRPS) has been carried out, the phenomenon of this organization has been revealed. It consists in multifold contacts of SRPS not only with the advanced at that time cultural unions of the country, but in the studying of the European artists' experience as well as artistic techniques. The Society is considered to be a complex, open sociocultural system, characterized with especial integrity, self-organization, structure, hierarchy and purposefulness; existing within Odessa cultural space during a complicated historical period at the border of XIX - XX centuries, thus changing and arranging that space, being the integral part of the whole European culture system.
