Essay

The analysis of scientific, engineering, organizational and public activity of known domestic admiral and scientist of S.O. Makarov is given in dissertation. He left noticeable track in the different branches of science and technique: shipbuilding, minefields, artillery, marine tactic, geography, oceanography, oceanology. Participant of two wars, where he gave orders to the ships and squadrons, inventor and shipbuilder, inventor of the first in tsar's Russia ice-breaker of "Yermak", the author of many books and articles, our compatriot, went down in history as a theorist and practical worker from the different sections of science and technique.
