Essay

Astronomic knowledge and ideas of Ukrainian people and it's reflection in folk-lore, rituals and material culture are analyzed. The author researched the development of Ukrainian national astronomy from the ancient times till nowadays. In the dissertation is showed the influence of astronomical knowledge on economic activity. The author deals with system of Ukrainian traditional calendar ideas. On the based of folk-lore and ethnography sources, different historical studies the cosmogonical and cosmological ideas of Ukrainians, astral symbols in people's creations and rituality also are analyzed. People's astronomical knowledge and ideas are studied in all side of reflection: from economic activity till mythology and symbols.
