Essay

The role of the region zemstvo veterinary medicine in the struggle against epizooties, first of all against cattle plague, anthrax and glanders. The main attention is paid to studying the mechanisms of interaction between the scientific and practical institutions of region veterinary medicine. The analysis of main factors which had an influence on evolution of veterinary medicine and science and also practice in zemstvo province was made. Some role aspects of zemstvo veterinary medicine in the Southeastern Ukraine in the development of veterinary medicine in Russia Empire particularly veterinary microbiology were found. The activities of I. Gordzyalkovsky, K. Khoromansky, N. Mihin, M. Shadrin, V. Shadrin, E. Telichenko in the development of zemstvo veterinary medicine were studied. The infrastructure of zemstvo veterinary section, its cadre, popularization and enlightener activity were investigated.
