Essay

Research is aimed to find the contemporary understanding of mass media role in society. Especially it is important and have special featured in emerging markets, such as Ukraine, where information becomes political and economic tool. Mass media plays a unique role in new democratic and this is one of the tasks solved in the dissertation - to study audio-visual mass media (television) as a part of communicational discourse of modern Ukraine. Practical field for this research consists of facts taken from political and economical realities - elections, revolutions and PR-campaigns that followed them. A new approach to define the mass media role is used in dissertation. As a result of interdisciplinary method of study the phenomenon of communication gives fresh vision of all mass media process and the role they play in democratic society. Politics, sociology, psychology, journalism - are the fields where communication exists and develops. Afterwards its' features come from theory to practice - the effective techniques of communication are the subject to discuss on governmental level and in terms of state informational defense. How to measure the destructive influence of information - is still an opened question because of the lobbying of business interests.
