Essay

In the dissertation on the basis of the analysis of a broad range of sources, achievements of Ukrainian and foreign historiography the confessional aspects of the ethnic processes on the example of Galicia in 1919-1939 are investigated. The dynamics of social and demographic changes in the region's population structure are given, the aggregate of the factors which influenced the formation of Galica's ethnic-confessional map is highlighted. The forms and methods, and the stages of ethnic policy of the Polish government are detected, the place of the religious factor in the formation of the national politics is determined. The character of interconfessional and interethnical relations in Galicia and the position of Christian churches are detected. The ethnic-identity processes are comprehensively analyzed, the correlation of the religious and national identity in the self-consciousness of the Galician population is determined.
