Essay

This thesis seeks to understand creative work of Vasyl Kyrylovych Avramenko, the founder of the Ukrainian national ballet conception. The thesis focuses on conceptual and methodological apparatus needed to be applied to paradigmatic parameters for the study of Avramenko's creative artistic ballet tutorship work, cultural-historical circumstances establishing him an artist, the inner sense of "The Ukrainian national ballet" conception he adhered to and the means of its artistic fulfillment. This study proves that due to V. K. Avramenko and his students' efforts the Ukrainian dance in diaspora of the 1920s-1930s turned out to preserve its distinctiveness and authenticity to a greater degree in comparison with that in the homeland. Mention is made of the discrepancies of ideological and artistic inclinations in processing the dance folk lore, which entailed deterioration of modern national choreography and extinguishing its folk lore paragons.
