Rymar A. Ukrainian monetary units as the attribute of social and cultural self-identification of nation-state

The thesis dwells upon the determination of the place and role of Ukrainian monetary units as the attribute of social and cultural self-identification of nation-state. Ukrainian monetary units are viewed in the thesis as integral historical and cultural factor in the context of state building processes. The analyses of scientific works and sources base concerning the issue in question has been carried out; the role of culture tradition in appearance of money within the period of early state structuring on Ukrainian territory has been established, as well as the syncretism of processes of further social and cultural development in the context of formation of national monetary economy; principal theoretical approaches to understanding of Ukrainian monetary units phenomenon as the integral social and cultural characteristic in the process of national state building has been generalized; the heredity of historical and cultural traditions in approaches to choosing the ideology and content of contemporary money has been modified. The work further draws attention to the role, cultural and artistic meaning of modern Ukrainian currency in representation of our country on the world level.
