Essay

Subject: radiation mutagenesis in selection of spring barley on adaptation. Aim: system researches devoted to the effects of radiation hormesis under radioactive radiation of small doses at different levels of barley organization in their development and interaction in a number of after radiation generations; the principles of the found effects' use in a mutation spring barley breeding. Methods: cytogenetically, selection-genetically, statistical analyze of data. Novelty: proved that small dose radiation induces a wide range of epigenetic variability in a number of barley populations at different levels of the plant's organization, which has preferably an adaptive direction and allows carrying out purposeful selection of valuable plant forms with a changed complex of productive and adaptive characters. Results: the effects of small doses of radiation irradiation are studied on the different levels of organization of barley among post-radiation generations. Efficiency of their use is proved for creation of valuable initial material for a plant breeding on adaptiveness and productivity. Application stage: collection of selectively valuable barley line and mutation forms is recommended and plugged in the selection programs of selection of barley of KhNAU the named after V. V. Dokuchaev, laboratories of selection of barley of MIW the named after V. M. Remeslo UAAS, and also included in genbank plants of NCGRPU at IPR the named after V. Ya. Yurjev UAAS. Application area: breeding institutions, AIC of Ukraine.
