The dissertation is dedicated to theoretical and experimental study of development of variative thinking among children of elder pre-school age. Insufficiency of theoretical and empiric research of the formulated above problem is determined. Psychological conception of "variative thinking" is extended. Variative thinking is characterized as a quality that allows children to orientate themselves in complicated conditions of activity and find appropriate ways to solve a problem. Set of psychological instruments for diagnostics the variative thinking among children of elder pre-school age is improved. System of diagnostic assessment of the variative thinking of six-year-old children is elaborated. General requirements for the diagnostic methods and an index of the variative thinking - which is proved to be an amount of methods to work out a problem - are determined. Accessibility of task's solution for children of elder pre-school age is demonstrated provided with conditions that imply several variants for working out a problem. Program for the development of thinking variativity is worked out. The program includes sets of the following tasks presented in the form of games-tasks: 1) cognitive development and elements of logical-mathematical knowledge; 2) speech development with elements of grammar; 3) artistic aesthetical development with elements of design and applique work. Principles of the program of forming experiment are defined and tasks are formulated.
