Bezlutskaya O. J. Paczoski's (1864-1942) activity in the context of biological science development

The thesis focuses on complex research of life and scientific activity of J. Paczoski (1864-1942) - an outstanding Ukrainian biologist and explorer. The thesis presents Paczoski as a researcher and a personality and studies his scientific ideas and outlook. Periodization of the scientist's life and activity has been developed. Contribution of J. Paczoski to the development of biology, zoology, botany-geography, phytosociology, forestry, horticulture, agricultural entomology, hunting, nature protection has been studied on the basis of a wide complex of sources. J. Paczoski research activity is examined in the context of the biological science development. The scholar has made a valuable contribution to the Biology development, to the organization of this science in Ukraine. The analysis of his research works gives arguments to affirm that they haven't lost their importance even today. His scientific and pedagogical contribution had become the ground for further development of new ideals and conceptions in biological research
