Essay

Subject: a breeding process for the creation of common hop cultivars. Aim: to determine morphological, biological and adaptive peculiarities in manifestation of breeding and economical traits in common hop specimens of the genepool, to create new initial forms and to find the best hop genotypes with a high level of adaptation in the conditions of the central part of Polissya as a valuable genetical material for breeding. Methods: field, laboratory, mathematical-statistical analysis of data. Novelty: breeding value of hop specimens from the genepool has been estimated, the sources of the main economical traits have been revealed, the crosses enabled to find some positive adapted to area conditions recombinants with a complex of valuable traits, the efficiency of the created material as to the established level of interaction and the genotype-environment influence on hop plant macro traits' formation has been shown. Results: the established peculiarities of morphological and adaptive traits' manifestation ensure the effective use of the genetical material of the collection in adaptive breeding and the reduction in the duration of breeding process, the hop basic collection has been formed, three valuable samples, one donor of high yield have been identified. Six new cultivars have been developed and registered in the State Plant Variety List of Ukraine. Application stage: basic collection of hop genepool, valuable samples of the genepool have been registered in NCPGRU, recommended and included in ISGP of UAAS breeding programs of hop. New 6 high-productive cultivars of hop have been developed and registered and being widely introduced into hop cultivation zone of Ukraine. Application area: breeding institutions, AIC of Ukraine.
