Stepanenko A. Increase of Effectiveness of Ship Handing in Port Waters

The thesis is devoted to the enhancing of the safety and effectiveness of ship handling in port waters. Theoretical research and experiments were made to check an adequate model that proved sufficient convergence of the results gained. For further safety increase of tow berthing operations an integral function was suggested and optimisation of ship manoeuvring in the port water with minimal deviation of its real motion route from the reference route of the general form was made. A few main criteria were determined and mathematically stated such as limited admissibility of ship speed and mooring line force, distance balance, representative time of tow berthing operations. The complete set of typical flow sheets of tow berthing operations was developed. The simulation model of tow berthing operations and the method of quantitative computer testing of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of operators by the use of the proper trainers was developed.
