Bodenchuk L. Activities of NASU Member I.I. Lukinov (1927-2004) contributing to the development of agricultural economy in Ukraine

The dissertation is a comprehensive investigation of the professional career of I.I. Lukinov (1927-2004), Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Swedish Royal Academy of Agriculture and Forestry, elucidating the main periods of his life-long activities as outstanding scientist and research organizer in the field of agricultural economy. To provide a deeper historic-analytical characteristic, the following periods of his career were distinguished: his initial steps in science, his becoming an outstanding scientist, his activities establishing his status as a scientist of international renown. Tackling urgent needs of Ukrainian agriculture's development, research carried out by Lukinov contributed to the resolution of crucial social and scientific issues. The author also shows his role as educator, science representative and propagator. Lukinov's activities as researcher and research manager are interpreted as evidence of the role of individual in the development of science.
