Zacharova N. Cultural and educational activity of the V. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine: formation and development history, sense transformation (1918-2008)

The necessity of understanding and disclosing of a role of libraries in cultural and educational activity is proved that is the actual task of library science in development of the Ukrainian society when there is a formation of a basis for a new paradigm of national and cultural development of Ukraine. Experience of cultural and educational activity of the V.Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine that is called up to solve in the library sphere the tasks of spiritual development of the Ukrainian society was studied. The history of creation, formation and development of cultural and educational activity in the National Library, its transformation from cultural and mass work to cultural and educational and then to cultural and information activity was generalized.
