Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation into international agreements and other international legal acts regarding the ban of enrolment, use, financing and training of mercenaries as well as countries' cooperation in combating mercenary activities. The thesis is about formational approach to mercenary activities' development, reasons for such a phenomenon, definition of the term "mercenary", characteristics for this class of persons as well as mercenary activities' international legal regulation. The author examined the problem of combating mercenary activities on international plane, namely the question of applying the rules, regulating the strife against enrolment, use, financing and training of mercenary activities to the law offenders; international organizations activities and countries' cooperation in the combating mercenary activities; the problem of building-up effective external and internal mechanisms for fighting mercenaries.
