In the thesis the problem of organization of project activity of students in teacher training institute was examined. The organizational and pedagogical foundations of project activity of future teachers in learning pedagogical subjects were covered. The basic concepts of the research were analysed and specified. The historical and pedagogical analysis of project activity evolution made it possible to point out the main stages of its development in the pedagogical theory and practice. The pedagogical potential of project activity in the context of teacher training were found out, its influence on formation of the future teacher readiness to pedagogical activity was characterized. The model of organization of project activity of future teachers in learning pedagogical subjects was worked out, the pedagogical conditions of its realization were substantiated, the structure of project activity of students in the process of making educational projects was revealed. The system of criteria and levels of future teacher readiness to pedagogical activity were found out. The results of experimental research proved the effectiveness and necessity of the author's model of organization of project activity of students in the process of their training.
