The dissertation is devoted to the urgent problem of realization of the functional and semantic approach to the study of the Ukrainian vocabulary of pupils of 5-7 forms at the lessons of speech education. The system model of studies is based on five basic stages of work, on forming of lexical competence of students. In the real education process the developed method is expedient at apply at the lessons of speech development, on the study of all sections of school course of the Ukrainian language. The paper gives recommendations for the methodical system of studies of the Ukrainian vocabulary of pupils of 5-7 classes of general establishments.
