Essay

Dissertation is devoted to the study of functioning of comparison constructions in the different language systems, as well as manifestation of the one in folklore discourse. A history of comparison theory has been observed. Many criteria have been sugested by researchers for making distinction, but none are without difficulties. To solve the problem of comparativity new approaches are applied (e.g. Construction Grammar and Theory of Rhetoric Structures). Communicative and structural characteristics of comparison constructions in the folklore are studied. The analysis of comparative constructions in the folklore of four languages allow to define how seeing the world was built in one of the languages studied.
