Shevchenko O. Ukrainian popular music: sources and problems: (from 1920 to 1990).

Object: Ukrainian popular music: (from 1920 to 1990).This dissertation is examining the methodology of the complex analysis of up-to-date problems faced by Ukrainian popular music in social- and culture-transformation period, which is experienced by Ukrainian society. It makes possible to integrate materials gained empirically into the theory which can become the basis for the settlement of existing contradictions in domestic show-business. During the research there were revealed the series of Ukrainian popular music sources: jazz, ukrainian traditional song, ukrainian variety song. The sources and style-specifics of the Ukrainian popular music, which are synthesizing the signs of the other - historically divided - layers of music arts, in the whole are creating the new quality as the basis of forming and making conditions for further development of the artistical techniques' complex. The history of the Ukrainian popular music development in terms of show business illustrates the leading misicians' researchings in the trends of style, stylistics, sound quality, synthesis of different music genres, integrating the folklore into the modern popular music. Having evolved during last decade, Ukrainian popular music has been actively interacting with the other music genres. Using of the above stated in the Ukrainian popular music analysis makes it possible to become clear for the wide range of long-term prospects.
