The work systematizes the basic definitions of information, educes the genesis of information impact on international political relations, and gives the analysis of information technologies forming, evolution and implementation in social life in general and in international politics in particular. The current information system is examined on three levels. Global information web acts as the closed system all over the global world. In particular for such subject of international relations, as Ukraine which is experiencing the process of state sovereignty development, the regulation of various information flows both within the country, and in international political space is especially sensitive. One of the new information space functions, the image-function, had been researched, and its special nature for Ukraine had been shown considering geopolitical position and historical evolution of the state.
