3. The thesis deals with the problem of selection of basketball players on the stage of initial training by studying the impact of the level of manifestation of personality characteristics to determine the prospects of basketball players at the following stages of long-term training. The research established the importance of psychological indicators for teaching and training process basketball players and their selection at the stage of initial training, which consists of personal characteristics, and activities such as: the level of intellectual manifestation, verbal and logical thinking, physical aggression, personal anxiety, commitment, courage, perseverance efficiency of attention performance, speed of information processing in the visual-motor system.
