Larina E. Prosody of Tolerance/Intolerance in Political Discourse (Experimental Phonetic Research)

The thesis is devoted to the experimental phonetic research of prosodic peculiarities of tolerance/intolerance in the speech of politicians in the modern political discourse of Germany, Ukraine, Russia. The instrumental analysis allowed to investigate prosodic characteristics of conveying the modal meanings of functional and semantic field of tolerance/intolerance. It has been revealed that the prosodic features of tolerance/intolerance in German, Ukrainian and Russian have common and peculiar to these languages means of actualizing distinctive prosodic characteristics at the level of melodic, dynamic, temporal parameters. The role of prosody in political discourse as the main factor of communicative influence on the audience and possibilities to make use of a certain prosodic means in modern communicative manipulative technologies have been found out.
