Essay

This thesis is a complex general research on primitive mythology in the system of traditional worldview of Ukrainians (the end of the XIX-th - the beginning of the XXI-st centuries), based on publications, archival sources and field studies. It examines the structure of traditional characters in primitive mythology and establishes its main characteristic features, including syncretism, anthropomorphism, and human origin, typical for most mythological characters. The work proposes a classification of the latter, based on the degree of their proximity to humans. Peculiarities of the image's transformation in the context of changes in the sphere of spiritual culture under the influence of globalization processes are exposed. The place and the meaning of primitive mythology in the system of the worldview of Ukrainians are researched.
